West & Sunset Coast Route
Two golden days: Cala Salada, Cala Bassa, Cala Comte, Es Vedrà and two unforgettable sunsets
🌤️ Best: May–June & September
A van is the best way to see the island — and the easiest way to get it badly wrong. Here's the honest version: the rules, the costs, and the routes that keep you legal and relaxed.
Ibiza is the strictest island in Spain for vans. Ten minutes of reading saves you a €20,000 lesson.
All five campsites accept vans. In summer (Jun–Sep) a confirmed booking is required to enter the island at all.
Compare the economics: hiring usually wins for fly-in trips, ferrying for longer tours.
Three routes built around legal overnight stops — including the full seven-day island loop.
The reality check
A campsite pitch. Since Ley 5/2024, camping and overnighting in vehicles outside the licensed campsites is treated as a very serious offence — fines run €10,001–30,000, and municipalities add their own on top. Between 1 June and 30 September, vans must hold a confirmed campsite booking to board the ferry at all.
That sounds restrictive. In practice it is the opposite: with five good campsites spread across the island and nothing more than 45 minutes away, the van trip you actually want — pine pitches, beach mornings, sunset drives — is exactly what the rules leave room for.

A note for the Park4night generation
We know the apps make it look easy. On Ibiza they don't work: local police removed the old listings and patrol the known spots, and the fines are the highest in Spain. Do the van trip properly here — a booked pitch, the whole island by day, zero stress at night. You'll sleep better, literally and legally.
